Driving advanced recycled
polymer technology into Europe

A collaborative project supported by the European Commission under the EIP (European innovation programme)

Frequently asked questions

Q Why is there a need to commercialise the lightweight recycled content PP range?
A By specifying recycled content polymers auto manufacturers will be able to substantially lower the weight of the average car, therefore reducing CO2 emissions while saving natural resources too.

Q Who founded the project?
A Eco-innovation initiative is part of the EU's Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (EIP) - please, see this link to know more about the program: http://ec.europa.eu/environment/eco-innovation/discover/programme/index_en.htm

Q What is the EIP programme?
A The European Commission's Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme is one of the specific programmes under the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP). With this programme, the Commission seeks to support innovation and SMEs in the EU.

Q Duration of the project?
A The project will last for two years (July 2014 - July 2016)

Q Funding received to do the project?
A The total cost of the project is £1,200,000 and the EIP have funded £600,000

Q Who is the project co-ordinator?
A Luxus Ltd (technical plastics recycler and compounder)

Q Who are the partners involved in this project?
A Luxus Ltd (UK), Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) (UK), Coperion (UK) and IAC (UK).

Q What is the main aim of the project?
A The aim of the project is to support the commercialisation process of a lightweight recycled content polymer range able to both satisfy legislative and emissions targets and reduce landfill by using an existing resource.
